I was made redundant from the DHSS Longbenton 1999 & I was 63 years old on October 16th the same year having worked there from I think 1979./ 13.3.2012• Nick Maynard• Posted At 10:43 AM

I was self-employed for a long time before that. What I would like to know is why I have a Contracted out deduction from my Pre 97 additional state pension. The pre 97 additional state pension is £46.40 Minus £32.54 = £13.86 paid. I would be much obliged if you could give me an explanation & if I am entitled to any money how would I go about getting it.

Dear Mr Matthewson

The contracted out deduction will relate to you DHSS scheme. It was a contracted out scheme that paid the extra bit of the contracted out part of the state pension early – from when you were made redundant and started to get your pension. Technically, you would need to wait until you received you State Pension at age 65. I do not think you will be entitled to any more money.

Compare Over 50s Plans

If you want to make sure that your affairs are in order when you die, having an Over 50 Plan in place could mean that the burden of funeral costs, bills, and other debts left behind will be taken care off. It's basically an Insurance scheme you put in place to protect those around you from potential financial obligations when you pass on.
